Video: Dancing behind people on cruise ships

The first thought which came to mind when we stumbled upon this was why?

The second was, well it’s not quite Gangnam Style, but it is pretty funny and we’d like to share it with you.

So far the video, by professional prankster Greg Benson has garnered 148,000 hits on YouTube, and was inspired by a segment on the Ellen DeGeneres Show – “Ellen’s Dance Dare”.

It was Greg’s fourth cruise and takes place on takes place on Sapphire Princess.

Greg specialises in these types of wind-ups – others include talking like a baby to people and walking round department stores asking for stupid items. He seems to have a cult following.

We had a third thought – the good grace and humour of those people who Greg dances behind should be applauded (we’re pretty sure that if he was dancing behind people on UK cruise ships, he may well have been punched by now – not that we’re condoning that, of course).

And in fact – as this response on our Facebook page shows when we posted it last week – we were absolutely right!

I guess the big question is will it catch on? Perhaps a new trend for 2013. What do you think – let us know below.

Enjoy and Happy New Year to all Cruise Critic readers!

See you in 2013.

  • Shouldn’t punch him, just throw him overboard!

  • This happened to me when I was on my Med cruise back in September!

It wasn’t Greg, it was somebody who had had a little TOO MUCH to drink but I still found it hilarious. So I guess what I’m saying isit will probably catch on quite easily, and not only on cruise ships!
