1st time on Cunard, (800 + days on other lines).
Can't wait to sail on one of the Queens again.
Met great people....including Tom and Phyllis of Greenville, SC. with who we had fixed dining. Regret that I did not get contact information with them.
Sailing on the Queen Mary 2, a true ocean liner gives a new meaning to cruising.
Cabin service was unobtrusive and white glove.

Cabin 10133 on Cunard Queen Mary to ship travelling out on 24 May for two nights.
We stayed in a penthouse suite. The suite was quite nice but there was certainly no butler service. Just a room steward whom we saw a couple of times if that. When we really needed him, he was nowhere to be seen, nor to be contacted by phone. There was no particular dispensation for suite guests as they proclaim. ...
Sailed from Southhampton to NYC with a friend in late May. We each had our own cabin and loved the privacy and on board social experiences. All lectures and educational offerings were superb. The big band and the Royal dramatic arts troupe were also very good. The weather was good so I did not experience any rocckng or sea sickness , although I understand the QM2 can withstand almost anything. ...
I thought I would share with others my first-hand experience of being a newbie voyager. Firstly, you will note that I use the word “voyager” in lieu of cruiser the reason being is the trans-atlantic crossing is a voyage and not a cruise! That’s that out of the way. I joined the ship in Southampton as that was the point of departure and anywhere else and I would have missed the ship. I decided to ...
We were so looking forward to this cruise having heard lots of good stories from other cruise goers. More than disappointed.
Easy embarkation at the port, then about 10 staff lining the entrance to welcome us aboard, but once past the welcoming party, there were no staff to direct us to our cabins! Therefore, after the initial 'pomp' there was no actual organisation.
We managed to find our ...
I have been on Queen Elizabeth before and loved her very much. My son and his partner decided that they would like to take a short cruise so as I had always wanted to travel on the Queen Mary 2 we decided this would be a good one to try.
Our embarkation was quite good as I have disabilities so we had priority boarding. The cabin was good too but we never once saw our cabin steward which is ...
We wanted to do a transatlantic crossing on a real ocean liner and the QM2 is probably the only benchmark for that kind of travel. The passengers were dominated by the average age well north of late 60's; 40% Brit 40% US.
Overall, enjoyable but must agree with others who have critical comments about food/service in Britannia and Kings court.
-Ship and quarters were clean/well maintained. ...
Home again. Ahhhhhh.
Last May, we did a westbound crossing on the QM2, our third voyage and second crossing aboard her. It was so perfect for us that we decided to do it again this year, except as a round trip. (spoiler – We rebooked aboard to do it yet again next year).
A week or so after last year’s crossing, she went in for her “remastering.” I was eager to see the results. This review is ...
After looking and booking several different cruises for my 60th birthday which included a stay in Europe and trip back on QM2, I decided to save a little money and do the roundtrip Belgian escape from NTC (Red Hook Brooklyn). This had the advantage of allowing my wife, Jill and I to drive in to CT early and visit my Father, sister and cousins prior to the cruise.
Saturday before the cruise was ...
We sailed on the Queen Mary 2 Eastbound (from New York to Southampton). Many things about our experience were fabulous but we were not made aware of the extensive surcharges prior to the trip. These included
* $11.50 pp per day general service charge, ($161 per couple for a 7 day cruise)
* 15% service charge on every drink (tea/coffee/alcohol) bought in a bar - with a gratuity box to ...
