Everything on this cruise was perfection. Transportation in FLL is easy, lots of taxis at reasonable prices, plenty of hotels to choose from and a Las Vegas (wonderful Cuban casual) restaurant within walking distance of the Hilton. I chose a hotel based on the availability of transportation to the cruise ship, this was totally not necessary as transportation is easily arranged on your own and a call to the hotel would get you approximate rates...next time I'll stay on the beach.

Onboard ship we never lacked for anything from our room steward or wait staff. The food is the best I've had shipboard since I took a European Constellation cruise in 2008. I cruise regularly, and Celebrity is my loyalty shipping line. It seems all the trips are serving approximately the same menu. On the Eclipse their chef knew how to prepare what could be mundane so well that you looked forward to meals. The buffet had excellent variety and as always there is way too much food. The poolside grill served hot dogs, hamburgers and French fries that were really good.

We took two shore excursions. One, the swim with the dolphins, was exactly what I wanted...a swim with a dolphin in something other than an aquarium. It was pricy, but well worth the money. The coral reef tour was a bit of a disappointment, as I was expecting wonderful, colorful coral and it really is just pretty grey, but this wasn't a failure of the excursion, merely my faulty expectations. We negotiated several tours without the cruise line, and did just fine on our own, but we never got a first rate guide, as we have had in Europe and Hawaii.

Cabin Review

The room was slightly larger than most. The beds are comfortable, the television viewable from anywhere in the room. They have a nice bathroom layout with plenty of storage. The closet space is tight, especially for two women traveling together. The only real criticism is that the beds should have been spaced away from the closet doors and the couch should have been put on the closet side of the room. Having the beds next to the closet was inconvenient.
