Wow! Wow! Wow! Maybe I am easily impressed but I have been on cruise ships before (3 actually) and this is the biggest and the best so far....we were blown away when we reached the port and saw the Solstice for the first time.....we had flown in from Brisbane and arrived early so we dropped off our ports and went for a roam around "The Rocks"....had lunch and then set about getting onto the ship....long lines but worth the wait....our suitcases were outside our cabins and we were settled in immediately....met our cabin attendant Lucas who was wonderful....he was like the Phantom....everything was always done but you rarely saw him....the cabin was very spaceous, with a very generous bathroom, two seater lounge, coffee table, cabinet with tv, and large wardrobe.....the verandah was 'huge' for a ship....two lovely comfy chairs that reclined and a little table....we loved lying in bed with the sliding doors open listening to the sound of the ship ploughing through the water......the entertainment was first class....lots going on....loved the "hot glass show', did not miss a show in the 'solstice theatre' , the cruise director was a great bloke called 'Ben'...he worked with Steve Irwin for five years and gave a wonderful talk on the 'crocodile hunter',,,was one of the highlights of the cruise for me.....went to cooking demonstrations, lectures, art auctions....I could go on forever....my only complaint was that I did not have enough time to do everything!!! We booked some wonderful tours through the ship and did not mind paying the price because you were always assured that you would be back in time for the ship's departure....or if there was a problem....the ship would wait! But if you are not inclined to do side trips there is always lots to do at the port and most times there is a free or nominal fee shuttle running to the nearest town..... Shopping....I was very surprised at the reasonable prices in the shops on the ships....time and time again we found the same object in the shops in the port towns for a 'lot' more.....I know that sounds surprising but believe me....this is coming from one serious bargain hunter!! Duty free perfume in particular was very reasonable .....Food! O my!!! We ate at the Grand Epernay restaurant every night and was never disappointed....the food was incredible...the waiters were so attentive and friendly....we had three formal nights and please don't stress....some go all out with tuxedos etc...but my husband wore a good pair of trousers, collared shirt and tie and that is quite acceptable...of course ladies ....go for it!! . We had our brekky in the Oceanview cafe on the 14th deck....great views and yummy buffet....you can also have your lunch and dinner there as well.....little tip.....on the last morning of the cruise...go to brekky at the Grand Epernay restaurant on the 3rd deck as it is frantic at the Oceanview cafe with everyone trying to have breakfast before they disembark!!! Of course there are other restaurants (not expensive) but we found the food at the restaurants included in the price of the cruise very satisfactory.... We had a great cruise...thank you Celebrity Solstice....
