This was our first cruise with RCCL. We had heard nothing but good things especially about the food. The ship itself was the biggest we had been on and is truly spectacular. The first two days were spent at sea and you had to get a chair early to be by the pool. We managed to snag a few the first day but after some early activities we were too late the second day. With high winds they had all the extra chairs tied down. It took a while but we finally found someone to untie the sailor knots that I couldn't figure out. We were not near a pool but still managed to get in our "sun" time. With 3 pools, one being for the kids, we learned real quick how to navigate this ship and find our favorite spots. We did the "My Time Dining" but we never got the exact time we wanted due to others reserving earlier than us. It still worked out. The food was the biggest disappointment on the cruise. If you stick with the fish or seafood it's actually pretty good. The meat was either overcooked or dry. I guess with everything frozen and cooking so many at one time it's hit or miss. Appetizers were fantastic. Desserts flavorful. The buffet sucked and we went there for sandwiches or salads. The free soft serve ice cream by the pools was a big hit. Surprisingly the shows were quite good. The ice show was a great use of colors but was a little hokey for us. The comedians were very good. At dinner service they had a Violinist and Piano player who were the best we've seen on a cruise. They moved around the ship to different ventures during the night. The guy who was entertaining (if you can call it that) at the Schooner bar was awful. A word of advice for all those early risers who want coffee. The windjammer cafe is not open till 7 so there is 24 hour free coffee at the specialty coffee house across from the guest services desk on 5. Our dealings with the guest services people was outstanding. Of course, they push the jewelry crap on you throughout the cruise and had a guy named Mike who told you where to go on the islands so RCCL could get their share of the money spent, tacky. They don't tell you about the many things to do on the islands unless of course, it's their excursions. That was disappointing. When we arrived in San Juan I told anyone and everyone that there is a free shuttle that will get you to all the sights, FREE :) Our room was an inside that overlooked the promenade and it was nice to have the window but we found ourselves always opening and closing the drapes for privacy. The shows that they put on late at night were lame at best. More about that in our cabin review. The wi-fi on the ship sucks. Don't waste your money. It's cheaper to get a data package for a month than wasting minutes waiting for it to respond.Overall very enjoyable cruise. Not sure about being on a ship with 4,000 people.
