Sail Date: Mar 2014

My girlfriend and I sailed on the Norwegian Jewel from New Orleans for our 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise.

We embarked March 23rd and disembarked March 30th. Our Ports of Calls were Cozumel, Belize City, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico.

This was my second cruise with NCL and my girlfriends first ever cruise. We loved it, The ship was clean and our balcony cabin was clean and well taken care of. Our Cabin Steward was great as well. I don't think we had one complaint. The food was good. Great selections, both the Speciality Restaurants and the Garden Café and other "free" dining experiences. We had an awesome time at the Sushi Bar where Christopher made us great sushi rolls. We loved it so much we dined there more than once. We recommend the French Restaurant onboard (Le Bistro) where we had a great dinner one evening. In fact, we had great experiences at every restaurant we ate at onboard the Jewel. We loved the "washy, washy" guitar playing crew members who made keeping the norovirus free of the ship fun. The entertainment was simply amazing with several magic shows, comedian shows, Cirque Bijour and musical entertainment. Jamie, the Cruise Director and her staff did a fantastic job keeping us entertained. The Jewel is a Nickelodeon Ship and the staff and crew kept all the children occupied at all times. With over 600 children onboard we feared screaming kids all over the ship. Not the case. We saw Square Bob Sponge Pants and Dora entertaining the kids every day. Every crewmember and staff onboard were very courteous and friendly. We had the chance to meet several of the officers of the Jewel, including the Master and were even selected to join the ships safety officer for dinner one night; which was a great experience. We took a "Behind the Scenes Tour" which ended with a tour of the bridge while underway. This was another great experience. Our excursions were well organized and the tendering in Belize was coordinated well and done with great care. The only disappointment, which was not the fault of the crew was that our port stop at Costa Maya was cancelled due to 6-8 foot swells and 40 knot winds which prohibited the docking of the ship. But then again, the professionalism of the Master and her crew in keeping our safety in mind was important. Instead we spent another day at sea and Jamie and her staff broke into high gear and kept us entertained.

Cabin Review

Great cabin, deck 9, slightly forward of midships, starboard side. Great views and fresh air at night. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom and showers were great and very clean. The cabin crew did a great job keeping our cabin clean and made up every day. A+
