Sail Date: Apr 2014

Our family was on the April 5, 2014 California Coastal cruise with the norovirus outbreak that made national news. We occupied three mini suites aboard the Crown Princess. One of us contracted norovirus.

The previous cruise also had a norovirus outbreak and embarkation was delayed several hours to sanitize the ship so there was a long line and no lunch.

Once the cruise began, the staff seemed slow to respond to the new norovirus outbreak. It wasn't until nearly half way through the cruise before handrails and elevator buttons were being regularly cleaned.

Cabin Review

The mini-suite was very nice. Low maintenance surfaces rather than rich woods, bleach-stained from spot cleaning. Quirky telephone sometimes clicked very loudly for several minutes. Respectable size bathroom with a full-sized bathtub, a large cabin with a separate sitting area and a small sofa that made into an extra bed. Two televisions that shared one remote control. A small mini-fridge. Respectable sized unobstructed balcony.
