I sailed on the Viking Legend the Danube Waltz cruise. We went to Germany, Passau, Austria, Vienna, Linz, Melk, Slovakia, Brataslava and Budapest, Hungary. It was a great trip. There was some confusion at the Munich airport when we landed. We didn't see the Viking Rep. We asked at information, and they told us to go to Terminal 2 from Terminal 1 which was quite a walk. We did finally see the Viking Rep at Terminal 2. We waited about an hour until all the passengers were rounded up. The Viking Rep went from one terminal to another, so we think we just missed him, but no one told us that. We went on the bus from Munich to Passau about 2 hours. Enjoyable ride. They gave us water on the way. Arriving in Passau, the crew took care of our luggage and we enjoyed a light lunch in the lounge and then settled in. I will be honest, when I saw the Legend, I was a little disappointed at first. The ship IS CLEAN-NO DOUBT-but the rugs were stained-the ship, launched in 2009, needs to be updated-the curtains in the lounge and dining area were faded from the sun and the walls between the cabins are real thin, so you can hear people talking in a muffled tone. BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY IF YOU CAN CALL IT-NEGATIVE. THE SHIP IS SPOTLESS, THE CREW IS ATTENTIVE TO THE MAX-THEY COME IN YOUR STATEROOM SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TO FRESHEN AND CLEAN UP. ANYTHING YOU ASK, THEY ACCOMMODATE IMMEDIATELY. EVERYONE WAS FRIENDLY. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. WE HAD 184 PEOPLE ON BOARD-DINNER SERVED AT 7-OPEN SEATING-YOU NEVER WAITED MORE THAN 15 MINUTES FOR YOUR FOOD AND THEY HAD TO SERVE EVERYONE AT THE SAME TIME.

The Viking legend has no third floor balcony as they show on some of the other ships. this is a regular boat, not a long boat fyi. I would DEFINITELY GO WITH VIKING AT LEAST ONCE. GO WITH THEM-they are accommodating and professional. This crew couldn't do enough to please you. They knew everyones name and their preferences at dinner. They had entertainment at night-a man playing piano, even one night the recreation director David, sang and put on a show. When you arrived in each country, they had musical entertainment and food specific to that country. One night, they had a struedel demonstration; another night-hungarian goulash. They did walking tours, extra excursions-we did a home visit with a local person in slovakia that was excellent. there was also a lot of free time. we also did an option visit with the chef on the viking boat to the food court in Vienna where we got to taste the different foods offered by the vendors. we went with the tour guide on the subway in vienna-we went all over-even in budapest.

I usually am skeptical, but I could not say enough good things about Viking. Even when we left for the airport, they arranged everything, they walked us up to the ticket counter and assisted all of us. Excellent company-never had a problem-everything was top notch. no worries. And they did not try to force you to book another voyage, they did mention it briefly at the daily briefings they had the night before. they also did not go on about tipping as some people mention-it was pleasant and enjoyable. glad i went.
