I can easily see why Viking is the #1 river cruise line. I can't imagine how any company could do better. The customer service is top notch! We started with two days in Budapest at the Hilton on Castle Hill in Buda. Our local tour guide, Oliver, was the best we have ever encountered on any vacation. He was so knowledgable of the area without it sounding like a history lesson. Our transfers from the airport went smoothly. We used a travel agent but for our next cruise we booked directly with Viking. There was a computer problem with the ship one day enroute to Vienna: the part was flown in and Viking more than made up for our inconvenience. Problems do arise but we feel so confident that Viking can handle any situation that we booked another trip within a month of our return.

The Program Director onboard the Njord was Kane Davies, an energetic and delightful young man, who handled every situation with aplomb. The whole crew was very skillful in their duties.

We loved the veranda as the scenery on this cruise is so beautiful. You never feel the boat moving at all. Read more
