Have made three Trans Atlantic Crossings (#4 coming up in Dec2014), three Caribbean Cruises and one voyage NYC-Quebec round trip Fall Foliage Cruise aboard QM2. Having made 7 voyages in her first 10 years of service I have always found the ship and service throughout to be impeccable. I always book Princess Grill early and am often upgraded to a Queens Grill Suite. Diamond Tier (15+ voyages) does have its perks. I'm sure being loyal to any other cruise line would offer free upgrades and other perks as well. In the cruise line business loyalty pays.
I enjoy the formal dress and the fact that dress codes are enforced. A December crossing is an adventure as one can expect high seas and this is the only passenger vessel built for it. No other ship would have left Southampton that evening in December 2012 knowingly heading into 4-days of 12-14 meter seas and full gale winds. The final 3-days with beautiful blue skies and steady 10-meter swells. It is always a thrill passing under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and into New York Harbour past the Statue of Liberty.
I always look forward to seeing familiar staff and often a few fellow passengers from past voyages. The staff remember all regulars and their preferences.
Cabin Review
Deck 9 is entirely Queens Grill Suites & Penthouses. Concierge Lounge is conveniently located mid-ship on Deck 9. Large suite with walk in closet and separate dressing area. Plenty of additional closet and drawer space. Whirlpool bath tub as well as separate shower. Large balcony with two separate sliding glass doors to access. Last night of voyage I hosted a pre-dinner cocktail party with 7 new found friends. Plenty of room for everyone. Butler had hot hors d'oeuvres and drinks prepared and delivered as requested. Even a few additional items. When I returned to my suite after dinner to freshen up all left overs from the party had been cleaned up and room immaculate.
