Just got back from an Alaskan cruise. Service, meals and just about everything on-board the ship was very good. The ports, however leave a lot to be desired. Katchican, Juneau, and Skagway are nothing more than cold weather versions of Caribbean ports. We just walked around beautiful (ha, ha) downtown Katchican in the rain (always rains their - 200 inches/yr). Went to the Menhaden glacier in Juneau - was a lot of money for very little. Did a Jeep tour in Skagway - a waste. The Princesses advert for this tour said you would get to drive your Jeep off-road. Well I'm a very experienced off-roader and did not expect to do any challenging off-roading. Well we drove two hours from Skagway through B.C. to the Yukon Territory drove about twenty minutes on a trail that I could have done in two wheel drive and then two hours back to Skagway. Another waste. When we go to the Caribbean, we avoid the tours and either book our own snorkel trips or go to the beach. Best part of the cruise was Glacier Bay. Has to be seen to be appreciated.

We did a four day land package. We left the ship at Whittier and boarded Princesses' train to Denali. Some of your luggage (dress clothes and other cruise-wear) not needed for your land portion is forwarded to your last destination and your other luggage joins you that night. Train ride was great but a little long - almost ten hours. Beautiful scenery. Food aboard the train was good but expensive.

The Denali Princess could you a little re-freshening. Food was very expensive - a 6 oz Yoplait yogurt is $3. A $20 pizza - well lets just say I've had better frozen pizza. A breakfast burrito (terrible), a ham & cheese couscent (sp), 2 coffees and 2 bran muffins was over $22 and the line was LONG!!!!!

Cabin Review

We were upgraded from an ocean view to a handicapped room (we're not handicapped). Appreciated the extra room and the over-sized balcony.
