My expectations were high given the fact that this was a new ship and I had cruised on two other NCL ships. First impression was not good: elevators quite small for such a big ship. The awful, awful smell in the casino that permeated throughout due to cigarette smoke was disgusting especially that there are a few restaurants surrounding the floor of the casino; not pleasant when dining. The inside cabin rooms are much smaller than other ships making it quite difficult for my husband and I to get ready at the same time. The ship was full to capacity and we were stuck on a floor where we were the only adults, completely surrounded by teenagers who played loud music and decided that hanging out in the narrow corridor was "cool." Vacations are for relaxing, not sure how Norwegian cruise line assigns rooms but complaints were never addressed. The pool was extremely small and not too inviting. The Spa is beautiful but the chemicals in the thermal pool were so strong that my eyes burned and it was difficult to breathe. Ventilation on this ship is a big issue. Because of this ventilation issue my husband's allergies kicked in. The library is located in a noisy area so didn't bother making use of it. It seemed that the public restrooms were not attended to on a regular basis and when I addressed this with a worker thinking that she would contact someone in housekeeping, she basically ignored me. Our cabin was not cleaned on a regular basis either. The water in the shower did not drain well and when I reported it to the cabin steward he said he didn't realize it. So I questioned him on how he cleans the shower stall and he said that he sprays it with a sanitizer but does not let the water run, that's is simply gross. The list goes on about the issues with this ship. The only thing that I enjoyed was the entertainment but there was a lack of staff checking people in at each venue, therefore, people were skipping the line.

Given all these issues with the Getaway I will definitely not cruise again with NCL.
