We were really looking forward to this Cruise having just cruised on the Norwegian Jade in May!! We were very disappointed.

Our cabin was extremely small and pokey even though it we had a balcony cabin. We had problems from start to finish. The cabin steward had given us two single beds and wasn't best pleased that we actually wanted a double bed. He grumpily informed us we "should have booked it as a double". Call me crazy but when a Mr & Mrs book a cabin.....you'de normally find that they sleep together in the same bed. Our Cabin Steward was also unhappy when I asked him to remove the old bar of soap out of our shower from the previous cruise (it was very used) and clean the dirty cabinet behind the mirror. He also continuously "forgot" our evening chocolates even though it was clear we were Silver Latitudes Members.

The Cruiseline itself stuffed up the birthday surprise that was supposed to be in the Cabin when we boarded the ship. I know I booked it through the NCL Website but they "looked into it and insisted I'd only booked a cake" which was NOT in the cabin upon us arriving either. I had booked the birthday package which should have included a birthday banner, balloons & streamers decorating the room. It was a farce & a joke from start to finish. I had to try and sort it out but in the end they did apologise and said my request had been "misplaced in the system". We were given a wine voucher and a cake voucher. The cake was awful and the wine had to be picked from a "special cheap list". We were eventually sent a lovely plate of chocolate covered strawberries and pineapple. This was after they realised they had really spoilt the start of the cruise and the birthday surprise for my husband.

Cabin Review

All balcony cabins are very small compared to other Norwegian Cruiseline ships. How three people managed in one room is a mystery as our midship cabin was very tiny with the bed taking up a lot of room. The bathroom is tiny and the shower is a joke for ladies who like to shave their legs, my tip is to stick your leg out of the shower and rest it on top of the closed toilet - do this when in port it's not ideal when at sea as the ship pitches quite badly!!
