We booked the two week grand european cruise and looked forward to what the brochures called, "scenic cruising" and "lovely walks" in cities along the way. What we got was one day of scenic cruising with the rest of the time being bused to an itinerary with 180 other people and when we returned to the boat the sundeck was closed for six days straight because Viking built these boats too high to go under the bridges. False advertising on both of these important items. Information was given out little by little in an attempt to keep people from getting too upset, but in reality, at each meal as soon as we sat down the complaining would begin with people angry.
The first three days the captain could not go through a lock without knocking everyone around almost knocking us out of bed a few times. The staff acted like the passengers were unwelcome and in the way. Then, after ten days, we were told we had to pack up immediately put our luggage out and get off the boat to be bused to a hotel for a two night stay and then bused to the next to the last stop.
What Viking did was kick our group off to put on another group from The Aegir. Their luggage went on when ours went off. The food on the boat was also not any better than an all you can eat buffet but it was truly horrible in the hotel basement where there was no choice in menu or wine. All along this trip there was never any evidence that the customers were valued. Instead, we were treated like children and lied to repeatedly.
Our cabin attendant the first week was exceptional.
