Sail Date: Aug 2014

This was our fifth cruise with celebrity and our third on eclipse. We love to sail from Southampton and to sell on eclipse is so special.the one blot on the horizon is that for the time we can sail on her we have exhausted her itineries .come on celebrity give us the chance to visit other destinations during the school holiday .

when we boarded we were taken to Michaels club for drinks and for our butler to come and escort us to our suite this was a nice touch and stopped that awful wandering about until rooms are ready. Next year the ship is going in to dry dock for a refit. They are changing cellar masters into another bar and food venue. I personally hope that they change the seats in the moonlight sonata dining room they are virtuously impossible to move and are distinctly threadbare in parts.we did notice some difference in the food served on the ship this year, in murano the style of the food was not as elaborate as it had been on previous cruises however the quality and flavour was still exceptional. Moonlight sonata was good, but the menu was a little lacking at times. Oceanveiw cafe was as ever splendid with so many choices it should please everyone.Tuscan grill was fabulous with the best cooked fillet steak ever.one thing we really missed was the brunch traditionally served on a sea day, this was such a spectacle and everyone loved it but it has been stopped by the food health and safety brigade because it is held in the moonlight sonata dining room which is carpeted!!

The entertainment was on the whole the best yet on eclipse, we were not impressed by the hypnotist at all and there was a singer/pianist/comedian who would have been brilliant if he had just sung and played the piano which was really good.mike Doyle was fantastic his impersonation of the captain was spot on and very funny. The crew are very attentive and make every effort to give us all a wonderful holiday. The ports of call were good but some thought needs to go into the itinerary as we were in Genoa on a Sunday and it was mostly closed.all in all another great cruise from celebrity well done.

Cabin Review

Our suite was as always of a high standard. There was so much storage space and it was kept immaculately clean by Doris and Bryan both of whom were fastidious in there attention to detail. Our butler Alex was exceptional in all his duties going above and beyond throughout the holiday all three helped to make this holiday wonderful. I felt that the bed was too hard but one mention of this to Alex and he had the problem sorted out. In parts the suite was looking a little tired, the lampshades in the bedroom have seen better days and the mirror in the bathroom needs replacing. These are minor points in an otherwise spotless suite
