My wife and I are in the 40’s range and this was our third Celebrity cruise, and our second time on the Solstice.

If you read Cruise Critic regularly, you probably know about Celebrity cutbacks. Having done the Hawaii cruise on the Solstice less than a year from this one, the cutbacks were very noticeable. The first change we noticed was the reduction of the activities staff. Before there were six people behind the Cruise Director, now there was only three: Lindy, Von, and Mulvey.

Next cutback was the trivia prizes. Before there were prizes given after each event, now tickets are given to be redeemed at the end of the cruise. Although it’s probably better than a passenger collecting 20 luggage tags, the conversion rates could be improved. A trivia’s first place win is 3 tickets, second place is 2 tickets, and third place is 1 ticket. With a T-Shirt requiring 30 tickets, a passenger would have to be in first place for 10 trivias! Fortunately, I had 39, hee hee.

Cabin Review

Good service. Upon initial inspection, the door security lock would not lock properly and the volume was not working for the TV. After a phone call, they were resolved within a few hours.Starboard views enabled you to see the docks of the ports.
