This was our first time cruising and we flew from Manchester airport which will never do again it was a complete nightmare going and coming back. We had to queue for 1 hour and half to get through security the only time that has ever happened was when we flew just after the 7/7 bombings which was understandable. The process to get on the ship was fine and we really enjoyed the cruise, the food was great, our inside cabin was great, it was on the 9th floor close to the lift and stairs which was convenient and our steward Angelo was very helpful and attentive. The destinations were really nice, although we feel on a personal level we will only go for a week next time and then stay in a hotel for a week as there wasn't much time to relax.

Our niggles were the $12 per day which you could opt out of but they would only reimburse after a week which we felt was wrong especially as we paid with cash so effectively we felt our money was held to ransom for a week when we had told them on the first day we didn't want to pay. Our reasons for not paying were because most days were were paying more in surcharges than we were actually spending as we are not big drinkers. We felt that the fact we were already paying 15% already on any drinks was fine but to then have to pay another $12 a day on top was a bit much, especially in light of the fact they would not even give you a cup of coffee after your meal for free unless you ate in the buffet restaurant even in the free restaurants. We tipped the people we felt deserved one for good service. We understand they are a business but the trips were extortionate just the trip around the boat to see what goes on behind the scenes was £50 and most trips at the destinations were £100 when you could go on the same trip for quarter of the price at the port. The water package was also a rip off $25 for 6 bottles of water when we could buy 6 bottles at a local supermarket for €2.50 and they were bigger bottles. Not everyone that goes on a cruise are wealthy but they want money off you all the time which became a little bit waring after a while.

I read some of the reviews before we went and somebody suggested it was a budget cruise, I am not sure why they would think that when we paid the same as other cruises if not more and the standards were high both in decor, quality of the food and the overall cleanliness of the boat.
