We chose the Boston to Montreal cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary because we would not have to go through an airport. Leaving from RI we had a car service take us to the Boston Port & we rented a one way car to drive back from Montreal. I had worked with Holland America's rep, Megan, directly from the start & that process was very good. We have to book a balcony cabin at least as we like the extra feeling of space it gives you. About a week before the cruise we were given the opportunity to upgrade to a Neptune Suite for a minimal amount & we jumped at it. This suite included extra's such as early embarkation & debarkation, a separate Neptune Lounge where you can do anything that would normally be done at front office, provide food & drink all day long, etc. The cabin was fantastic......very large, clean, double width balcony, sitting area, separate dressing area, large closets & numerous drawer space. Some of the furniture could use a bit of updating but it was very usable. The cabin stewards we had were the best ever as well as the conceriege in the Neptune Lounge. They could not do enough for us & were so friendly & always greeted us by name. Neptune Suites were able to enjoy a special breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill (their premier restaurant). We did eat here most days & it was very nice.....the 2 days we did not we had breakfast delivered to our cabin & ate out on the balcony.

We booked an excursion every day through Holland America....we feel more comfortable if there is some change in time schedules (as did happen to us in Quebec as we had to leave early) and we easily changed the tour when our original one was leaving at a much too early time for us. We enjoyed all of them.

My husband especially enjoyed the onboard Digital classes they had each day. He say he really learned a lot about photo on the computer & more. The instructor was wonderful & so easy to learn from. He also used the gym everyday & loved riding the bike looking at the sea.

Cabin Review

Fantastic. We loved the size of the room & balcony. Having all the closet space & drawer space you could possibly need was great. The separate dressing area was a nice addition. The room was so clean, the bed very comfortable king size.
