As a treat, this year for our 15th wedding anniversary I decided to treat my wife and I to a Celebrity Cruise. Over the years we have been on multiple Royal Caribbean Cruises (And enjoyed them all), along with Princess, Carnival, NCL, and Disney. From all discussions with others, they have said to try Celebrity as it is a “step above” Royal Caribbean. Seeing that we love Royal Caribbean, it was an easy decision. And since it was our 15th wedding anniversary, I decided to treat us to the Concierge Level room.

To start off, I will say that boarding the ship was a breeze. Last year we did the Explorer of the Seas from Cape Liberty and it was a nightmare to board the ship. This time it was a breeze to say the least. We were treated very nicely by the port staff and welcomed on the ship with the normal orange juice and champagne. Due to our timing, we were not able to see the room but had ample time to explore the ship. Our first stop was the pool deck and we were somewhat disappointed at the main area. The size of the swimming facilities were small and it appear that it would be crowded. We ventured to the Adults only area and were impressed by the layout and two hot tubs. After continuing our review of the ship, we finally were allowed into our rooms. Unfortunately, we had higher expectations due to the added costs for the level of room (Concierge level) and immediately were disappointed. Not only was it small and not worth the additional money spent, but it clearly needs an upgrade.

After settling in, we made our way to the dining room in hopes of a great meal followed by a good show. Unfortunately we were disappointed in both departments. With dinner, we were given only (4) entrees to pick from, and of course the general (Every evening) items. After careful consideration a choice was made, however it was not the right one. We were sitting at a table of five (three of our friends who have cruised more than us) and we all chose wrong. After the unfortunate dinner we made our way to the 9 p.m. show where we were introduced to the cruise director. The first show was “limited” to say the least, but did introduce us to what to expect each night. (Juggler, comedian, musical, Tenors of Rock)

Cabin Review

Simple fact is that this room was no different then any of the other rooms. When we booked the room, we had expectations of something better because it was "Concierge Class" but in fact, we received a bottle of Champaign and (3) apples. For the additional cost, was a waste of money and complete disappointment.
