I would consider myself a well seasoned cruiser (11 on RCCL, and 3 Carnival). This cruise was a quick weekended getaway, with a small price.
The GOOD: Getting on the ship was very easy, and the staff was very friendly. Food in the dining room was decent, and gave me no complaints. Always lots of deck chairs on sea and port days. The entertainment was very good. I am a big fan of carnivals comedians, and their multiple shows. I chose self assist disembarkation, and from when I left the room to clearing customs took about 20 mins (really fast)!. Bar service was always fast and friendly.
The BAD: Service on this cruise was really bad, especially in the dinning room. We chose the anytime dinning option. One night they cleared my fork with the salad, and never brought me another for my entree untill much after my entree was served (resulting in it becoming cold). Instead of resetting the tables after guests left like replenishing water glasses, they would just poor water in whatever glassware was on the table, usually wine glasses. Fresh pepper or cheese was never offered for salads or soups. Waiters seemed overworked with little help. Took 20 mins to get a drink at dinner multiple nights, and one night it was the wrong drink. This was the worst dinning experience I have had in all my 14 cruises. Room attendent also was bad. Never introduced himself, and would only replace a couple bathroom towels each day. It seems carnivals service has really declined since my last cruise with them.
