This was my first time on a Royal Cruise and my fiances first ever cruise. Its been 20 years since going on a cruise that was less than 7 nights. I've been spoiled on Celebrity, Regent, Oceana, and Princess over the years.
First lets get the booze package thing out in the open. Its not well explained on the Royal web site and the people selling the packages while boarding or on the ship did not have a clue either. It was the bartenders that had to explain the package. We bought the Ultimate because we were told it included everything from high end liquor and wines to specialty coffees and any other drink on the ship. Unless you drink three Starbucks coffees a day don't. Thats all it covers over the Premium package. Both packages are limited to liquor drinks up to $10 and wine and champagne up to $12. As you guessed all the decent wine and champagne was $17 to $20. That means you have to pay the extra $7 to $10 per drink plus 15%. Also, each bar and every restaurant did not carry the same wines and champagne. They all tended to run out of the good wine under $12 after the first day and served garbage there after. We brought on two bottles of good wine thank god. Next time we are not buying the package and packing two bottles in each suit case. They don't check.
Second. The bathrooms are tiny and the shower the smallest of any ship I have been on since the 70's. The bathroom floor flooded with each shower. The rooms were big enough with plenty of storage even though we were on the bottom of the ship.
Room size ok. Bathroom and shower the smallest of any ship. Bathroom flooded each time we took a shower. Other passengers complained of water overflowing on to their carpet. A shop vac was seen inb the hallways 24 hours a day.Plenty of storage
