I've traveled on Princess 3x, Royal Caribbean 1x, and just returned on my first time with Norwegian on the Breakaway. I wasn't sure how the Freestyle dining would work but it was okay- as long as you don't mind waiting for a table some nights. We opted to just eat alone each night. On other cruises we've eaten as a group, same time, same waiter. I think it might be better that way the waiter gets to know you and service might've been better.... I'll try to break down my experience by category.

Service: Our room steward was great for the first three nights, then seemed to go downhill from there. The room was clean but on our last night we had a huge bag of towels shoved under one bed that kept our suitcase from being easily accessed. There were also only a bath towel left for us that night. No pool towel- if we wanted to use the hot tub. It seemed as if they were ready to get rid of us. The front desk area was helpful when needed. And the bar tender at the Martini Bar (his name is Gede, pronounced 'geh day') was excellent! Ask him for an expresso martini w/chocolate drizzled inside the glass- outstanding! As for service around the dining areas- we only ate at the complimentary dining rooms. (Manhattan room, Taste, Savor) and the Garden Cafe & Sheehan's (not sure that's spelled correctly). I was very surprised at the lack of service given by waiters and bus boys in all the areas. They seemed overwhelmed and did not give any attention to you. One night we needed to be done in an hour to get to our show, and the waiter accommodated us by bringing all our food out at once. A little awkward eating at a small table. But we did make it to our show on time. The service crew just didn't seem to care about the customer. They were very chatty amongst themselves though.

Activities/Shows: This is where Norwegian shined. There was so much to do that we actually missed some things due to overlapping and having to pick & choose. The entertainment was excellent. We went to see Burn the Floor, The Magician (he was okay), Rock of Ages, the Dueling Pianos. The only extra we did was the Cirque Show, which was worth the extra fee (the steak/shrimp dinner was good but some men may need to hit the buffet to get more food) The ropes and climbing wall were fun, as were the water slides.

Cabin B2

Roomy for two adults. Would be tight with more. Beds comfortable. Plenty of storage.
