Sail Date: Aug 2014

This was to be our first cruise on Thomson Majesty and our first ‘back to back’ cruise. Also, we had paid for a drinks package (DP), and booked an outside plus cabin on decks 3 / 4. The first week of the cruise covered many ports that we had visited previously and we intended to get off and do our own thing. The second week covered lots of new places, and we planned in the main to take short walking tours.

Weather in the Mediterranean at the end of summer can be unpredictable; there was only one rough night which was between Trapani and Civitavecchia when we had a force seven blowing. Apart from that there were a couple of heavy showers that we were caught in.

On checking in we were advised that paying for our onboard spend by credit card would incur a 2% service charge, we were expecting this and had made sure that there was sufficient funds in the current account to cover using the debit card.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside Plus Deck 4

The cabin was an outside plus and had two windows. It was well laid out with the twin beds either side, so there was lots of room in the middle. There is under bed storage for luggage and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom again has plenty of storage, and although small works well. Soundproofing between cabins was better than expected; perhaps because of the two extra drop down bunks, maybe the walls have to be strong/thicker. In general the fittings did look old and in need of some TLC or replacement. The fridge worked well and ice is available in the main self service restaurant. Our cabin stewards Irene and Eloisa were very attentive and efficient, always good fun and kept use amused with their towel art! It’s worth noting that flannels (face cloths) are not supplied.
