I'm certain HAL wishes they didn't send me an email questionnaire, as I had little good to say about our cruise. Food was so-so, a/c and heat didn't work in our suite. I needed a 15' extension cord to plug in to use my sleep machine, and my favorite? using their blow dryer required getting on hands and knees with flashlight in hand while crawling under the desk to find a weird looking electrical outlet. This adventure may be fine for younger people, but at my age of 70, crawling around on the floor under a desk is not my idea of fun. Many times it was difficult to understand the speech of their Indonesian employees. The end of our trip was also quite entertaining (sarcasm switch on). Our bus transfer to the airport was provided by HAL. Our driver told us he had only made this trip once before...and due to the height of the bus he was unable to transport us to the departure area of the airport. Therefore, bags and all, we senior citizens, some like us needing wheelchair assistance, were dropped off at the arrival area. Walking inside we were confronted with the baggage claim carousel, and it was up to us to find our way to the airline check in areas.

HAL seemed determined to cut every corner possible to save money, and it showed. The next time I desire to spend $10K for a cruise, I'll be back on a Princess ship, HAL has seen the last of us.
