This was our second cruise on the Marco Polo, the first being the Round Britain trip in 2012. We are not regular cruisers, but the Marco Polo suits us very well. I like the fact that it is quite small and homely and has an interesting history. It is a proper "ship-shaped" ship, not a floating tower block. It is clean and comfortable and the staff are great- really helpful. We have been lucky both times in our dinner table companions and made friends very quickly with other passengers. Most of the passengers are retired British people, but there were some younger ones and a handful of Australian/NZ/US who were doing the trip as part of an extended European tour. The food, whilst not gourmet stuff, is very nice and is certainly plentiful. There was varied entertainment on offer, especially from the cruise director, Richard Sykes, who is just brilliant! The evening shows were very good. If you are happy with a small, friendly ship and don't feel the need for cinemas and dozens of dining options, then I would recommend the Marco Polo.
Lovely cabin. Two large windows, loads of space for storage and the bed could be made up as a double. Midships so not too bad in stormy conditions.
