we have just returned off the oriana and we have thoroughly enjoyed our cruise however there are a few things that could have been a bit better. our inside cabin was clean although the cushions on the bed needed washing and they were changed as soon as we requested them so. our cabin steward and all the staff on board we found to be extremely friendly and always willing to help and do a little bit extra for you to ensure we were okay and having a good time. the professional acts were great although we didn't enjoy the headliners company. the food on board was great in the conservatory and the choice was great each day too - it was also very clean with staff checking to make sure everyone sanitised their hands on entry. the only problem with food I encountered was in the oriental restaurant - the food looked good on the plate (and I know they catered for a mainly older cruiser with perhaps a lesser appetite) but the quantity I felt was not a man sized portion and this meant that nearly every night we went in search of a late night snack as we felt hungry. another bugbear was the hidden costs like the shuttle buses and tenders which we thought would have been included in the price of the holiday, we were also not expecting to have to pay over £140 in gratuities that were automatically added to our bill on the last day - we would have preferred to give our tips to those we wanted to - all these extras add up and actually impinge on the saving for the next cruise! BE AWARE that these gratuities do not come out of the money you paid for the holiday but are separate at the end of your holiday making this a tipping ship! please remember that this ship is at sea all the time and therefore they do carry out running repairs and renovations ie varnishing hand rails and painting etc - it was also good to hear the captain ordering safety exercises every couple of days like 'man over board' etc. this ship is cared for very well and we felt that despite the niggles they tried very hard to always please us and were very friendly especially all the waiting staff in all the restaurants. we hope this is helpful and that you do enjoy your holiday as we shall be going on the oriana again as soon as we hae saved again.
