Marvelous cruise overall. Weather was perfect. Crew was exemplary. Ports were well chosen and of great interest for the most part. Highlights were West Point, Albany and Hyde Park.
The Independence is beautifully designed, with ample public rooms. Public restroom facilities were minimal to say the least.
Food was very good, as were the choices offered. Soups were outstanding. Not everyone is used to a hot meal for lunch every day. While salads are a fair substitute for many people, it would be a great improvement if a sandwich could also be offered at lunch time..
It was a handicapped cabin. The beds were very comfortable. The temperature control was not accurate, but with a little experimenting, the cabin was comfortable throughout the trip. Shower and toilet facilities were perfect. Closet and drawer space were more than enough for a one week cruise. However, a door or curtain for the closet should be considered. Very quiet.
