This was a budget cruise. With that in mind it was on the whole well worth it.

The biggest problem was engine noise in our area. It occurred at slow engine speeds and seemed only to occur in the area aft of the aft elevator bank, so for our deck #6, from about U189 back. While anchored at Catalina it was a constant distracting hum all day long so I had to leave the cabin to read my book. Cruising slowly was the same and worse when docking. My wife and I were jerked from our sleep about 4:30 a.m in Ensenada. and 5:15 a.m. arriving back in Long Beach. The volume at the Long Beach dock was like a freight train. The noise disappeared at normal cruising speeds. I walked the two corridors in that area and the noise was all over, less at each end and no significant noise the forward side of the aft elevators. Our other family members were in that more forward area, M194, and their cabin was a normal quiet while ours was loud.

I have looked at other reviews, some quite old, and noise in that area is not mentioned so I wonder if it is a new problem.
