Just back from a 3 night "Halloween on the High Seas" cruise on the Dream. This was our first family cruise and we (the adults) were somewhat reluctant cruisers, but our kids really wanted to try it. Wow, we loved it. Our only complaint is that it was too short!
Our kids are 14, 12, 10, all boys. I appreciate that Disney has family staterooms that will fit 5, and we would have gladly taken advantage of this when the kids were younger, but we are simply too big of a group to comfortably fit in one room now, so we wanted 2. In the interest of saving some $$$, we booked 2 standard interior staterooms. My husband is very prone to seasickness, so I went as low and mid-ship as we could. We ended up with 2517 and 2519, which were adjoining. We found the rooms fairly spacious and well laid out. The kids shared a room, with each having his own bed since the rooms had a couch that converted to a bed and a pull down bunk. We never felt any movement and my husband did just fine. I'm so glad we didn't spend extra money for a porthole or verandah, as we were never in our room except to sleep.
Although the kids have been to Disney World and Disneyland many times are we have always been big fans of the theme parks, our kids are definitely past the target demographic now, and character interactions are not of interest so I wondered whether we might be "too old" for this cruise. Turns out, we weren't. Our 14 year old absolutely loved Vibe, the club for teens. He disappeared after dinner each night to hang out with his new "friends." Our younger two were both allowed to register for Edge, the "tween" club, and although the 10 year old liked it, this is just not our 12-year-old's kind of thing and he preferred to hang out with us or hang out on the sports deck. We did not participate in most of the Halloween activities, which were geared to a younger crowd, but the kids still found plenty to do.
Cabin is in great location and has drop down bunk and pull out couch.
