Viking River Cruises has gotten river cruising down to an art. We flew from Seattle to London to Budapest. Viking arranged our air transportation and transfers. When we arrived in Budapest, a smiling Viking agent greeted us. We waited for other Viking cruisers to join us and then a bus took us to the Legend. Our stateroom was ready even though it was noon, and we thought it might not be ready until later. Our room (305) was perfectly situated. It was close to the lobby, coffee station, lounge, and stairs to the dining room. The rooms were very clean and had adequate storage space. Each evening before dinner, our cruise director would provide information about the following day’s events. We thought these short sessions were very helpful.

All the excursions were led by guides who spoke good English, explained historical buildings and gave anecdotes about their lives. Viking had stated in their literature that there was a lot of walking on cobblestones and uneven surfaces, and it is true. Be prepared with good walking shoes and lots of energy. Viking provided bottled water each day prior to the excursion.

The Viking concierge was extremely helpful in providing directions to such destinations as the Great Market Hall in Budapest, and to the Municipal House in Prague.

Cabin Review

Cabin French balcony

Our room (305) was perfectly situated, close to the lobby and coffee/tea station. We heard no noise. The rooms are not large, but very adequate.
