Being a first time cruiser, I researched online and asked many friends/family about their experiences with various cruise ships. So here's my review for the 5-day cruise from MIA to Jamaica (2 stops). This was an interesting chartered cruise so the itinerary was all customized, from the food to the entertainment, so I'm not sure if the "normal" Pearl experience is much different.

Embarking - normal 2 hour wait checking in and getting on board.

Food - (again customized for the clientele) wasn't too impressive. There was only 1 buffet with the same food options for all meals. The other 2 dining rooms (included) wasn't too impressive either. The other paid restraurants weren't too overpriced so at least we had more options than just the 3. I may have had really high expectations, but I wanted the amazing food experience I heard about.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Great! I suggest splurging and getting a balcany. I couldn't imagine being mid-ship.
