Just returned from 11 night Spain and Canaries cruise on the Eclipse. Grandparents and teenage grandson (who had a great time). We were on this ship 3 years ago and it is inevitable that comparisons are made. Over these past few years we have told friends and family that the food on the Eclipse was first class and the best food we have experienced on any previous cruises. Unfortunately, this is not the case this time. The food wasn't as good, restaurant was a bit chaotic at times, food lukewarm on occasion and the variety of food wasn't as extensive as 3 years ago. Some items on dinner menu were presented the following day at lunchtime. The little extras are missing - another way of the company minimising its costs. The range of free films on stateroom tv poor. I thought the ships itinerary and timing of shows and activities wasn't as good either - the films shown in the public area very disappointing also. Another downside was that there seemed to be a shortage of staff throughout the ship - service was slow despite the best attempts of the waiters etc. Disembarking process was a shambles also. As I had previously pointed out 3 years ago, there is not enough cupboard/wardrobe space in a stateroom for 3 people and Celebrity still have not addressed this issue.

On the plus side, staff are Eclipse's strength - well trained and friendly. This ship is lovely and clean and easy to get around. The speciality restaurants were fun, food very good and staff very attentive - but this all comes at an extra cost.
