I have recently returned from a three night taster cruise with many members of my family to Bruges. It was an absolutely fantastic cruise and a great time was had by all. Room service, public spaces, food and dining experiences, entertainment was all excellent as I have come to expect from Cunard. I would particularly like to single out the children's zone for the high quality of service and the on board entertainment and music. My understanding is that a new performance company has recently joined the ship. If the Hollywood movie showcase is anything to go by then future travellers will have much to look forward to. It was the first show ever that made my whole family want to see twice. The service in the bar areas and restaurant was faultless and the attention paid to the children and my relative with specific dietary requirements was much appreciated. No one wanted to leave the ship after such a short visit, so there is a mark of the success.

but...

For the first time ever in my experience the sea day advertised in the itinerary was simply the ship putting down its anchor just outside of zebruuge. This didn't create much of an experience for new or existing cruisers who like to feel the motion of the ship with a feeling of going somewhere rather than standing still. It may have contributed nicely to saving carnivals fuel bill, but it limited the experience of those on board and I know from talking to fellow cruisers that this did not go down well. If the ship has to stay still, make it an additional port day please!
