Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian’s Epic, October 26 through November 9, 2014. Barcelona Spain to Miami with stops in Madeira (Funchal), St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Miami.

Let me start by saying that I am American, and an overweight one at that, with platinum status on NCL. Please remember that when you read some of my comments. Embarkation went very smooth upon our arrival at 11:00 am. However, I was disappointed with NCL and my American friends for not following (enforcing) the procedures for Latitude members. I overheard guest saying that NCL did not check to see if you were a gold or platinum member so get in that line, you’ll get checked in faster. They were correct, NCL did not check, and in fact encouraged guests to get in whatever line they wanted. There are very few benefits to being a gold/platinum member that are worth anything, but having priority boarding for me is a nice perk. NCL allowed this perk to be taken from me. Bummer.

We were able to go straight to our cabin (10275) and found the room bigger than our hotel room in Barcelona (a pleasant surprise). I had read many reviews concerning the cabins and found that we could not ask for anything better. The storage area was huge and the room well laid out. We had no issues with the shower, toilet or sink, it is different, but for us no problem. The hotel staff was fantastic (as they’ve always been). Luggage was delivered by 3:00pm. My recommendation would be to book a room on deck 9 or above, otherwise people above you can see into your balcony or you’ll have the lifeboats blocking your view. Deck 10 was perfect and those above would be just as good.
