Cabin: Concierge Level

We sailed on the Marina from Rome to Lisbon in early November, staying in a concierge level veranda stateroom. This was our first Oceania cruise, and overall the ship and the cuisine were excellent quality, and fairly good value for money.

This was the last Mediterranean sailing before the repositioning to the Americas, so Oceania filled the ship with two-for-one cruise fares, free airfare, free onboard Wi-Fi internet, included gratuities and $100 shipboard credits.

Airfare, transfers and excursions.

Concierge Level

Cabin A1

We originally booked a veranda stateroom, but were offered an upgrade to “concierge level” for $100 each. This included access to the spa deck (normally $25/day each) which was the reason we accepted the offer. The staterooms are identical, but there is access to the “concierge lounge” which is a pretty small space with a few chairs, coffee, tea and juice, and various snacks throughout the day. It was mainly convenient for getting coffee first thing in the morning. The concierge himself was pretty useless (see comments above about the pirate GSM system) and only there for a few hours per day.Unless you calculate that your spa deck usage will justify the extra cost, I wouldn’t recommend concierge level over a normal veranda stateroom. The veranda staterooms are well equipped. I believe Oceania made a serious design error by including both a tub and a shower in the bathroom. The tub is too small to be comfortable, but it takes up a lot of space which could have been used to make the shower less restricted, and perhaps provide more vanity counter space. As it is, all aspects of the bathroom are compromised in size. The stateroom service was beyond reproach—the cabin was made up twice each day and was always done promptly when we left the room.
