As seasoned cruisers, we know what to expect on several cruise lines, NCL amongst them.  3 previous Jade cruises and another in January next year are proof of that.  So the disappointment of the Epic - previously NCL's flag ship - was overwhelming.

There are no quiet areas except in the Haven reserved section on Deck 17 - behind a coded door.

Everywhere else has piped music - usually too loud and mostly inappropriate to the average age of 59 on the ship. Without the large number of children on board that average would be much higher.

Cabin Review

Inside

Cabin IX

The lighting was terrible. My wife's face make-up was a matter of pure guesswork because it was so dark in the cabin. The best lighting was in the shower. The power sockets are hidden under a low dark shelf. The beds are too short. The sink is only useable to wash hands. The flat screen TV was so bad you could only examine your on- board account by standing directly in front of it within 3 feet. The bedside lights are on flexible storks - which are so flexible that they won't stay up out of harms way if you separate the beds to achieve more cabin space in the centre.
