We loved the Central Park balcony cabin and the bed was delicious - tempurpedic mattresses and toppers and gorgeous linens make for a wonderful experience.
And the Park Café for breakfast and lunch was our salvation with "build your own bagels" and wraps and scrumptious soups. And the Promenade Café for pastries was our afternoon treat. Cheesecake popsicles and pink lemonade tarts are memorably yummy.
The dining room, however, was a huge disappointment. Small, small portions (think 1/4 inch thick steak) and little inspiration in the menu left us majorly let down. Dinner consisting of 4 large shrimp is NOT what I think of as even adequate. They did have excellent rack of lamb and prime rib and escargot - but after eating steak for 5 days since the menu was so boring, I kind of wish they'd had the good stuff earlier on. Breakfast in the dining room was borderline awful. Sorry Allure - it's true. Service was bad and the kitchen didn't make what I ordered. No apology and no bagel were delivered.
Excellent room and excellent attendant. We were thoroughly delighted with everything.
