My wife and I have been ardent Celebrity cruisers since (12 cruises since 2010), and looked forward to this transatlantic jaunt on Eclipse. I concur with another reviewer who stated that (s)he wished (s)he could have gotten off after five days.
Leaving aside the fact that we were shorted, cancelling 2 days in Bermuda in exchange for 6 hours in Madeira because of weather, the ship and its personnel just didn't make the grade. Trying to have a dr\ink at cocktail time was an almost impossible feat - not only are the bars poorly designed with relatively little seating but the wait staff was visibly understaffed, Often I only saw 1 waiter for an entire bar area,
I wonder if because this was a repositioning cruise the crew in general figured it just wasn't worth putting out much effort? It certainly seemed that way to us. While unfailingly polite, we found all types of crew, from Officers to Cabin Stewards to be very distant, unlike any other Celbrity ship we've been on. It;s hard to quantify, but there was definitely something different on this ship.
