Sailed on the Solstice from Sydney on Nov. 3rd. The Solstice is a large ship but it does not feel crowded. The only time the ship felt full was on sea days. Deck 14 where the buffet was located was always busy. Celebrity has done a nice job with the buffet on 14. It is spread out with a nice selection of food, so traffic flow works well. The ship was one of the cleanest ships I have ever been on and well maintained.

Our cabin was located on deck 8 close to the bank of 8 elevators mid ship aft. No noise and it was easy to go anywhere from this location on the ship.

The last time I was on Celebrity was in 96 on the Horizon, I have also been on the Zenith. In those days Celebrity was owned by Chandris, Cruise Lines, this is where the X comes from on the smoke stack. Celebrity was a six star cruise line back then due to Apollo ship chandlers. Apollo did the food service for Celebrity and Dolphin cruises back then and all the food was gourmet. When RCCL bought Celebrity they took Apollo out to cut cost and hit shows in the dining room. The dining staff was excellent, the dining room was nice but the food was pretty average. I did not go to the specialty restaurants only the main dining room. One poster said the ship needed entertainment in the dining room, I don't think so, a person playing the piano would be nice like other ships have but singing waiters need to stay on the 3 -4 star ships.

Deluxe Veranda 1B

Cabin 1B

Great placement on the ship. The balcony sits out from the ship in this area and gives you a good view of the bow and aft. of the ship. Close to the 8 elevators on board and quiet. Bed was comfortable, the TV was not very user friendly, some of the interactive features were not working.
