This was our 33rd cruise since 1994 and our 5th on Holland America. I was part of the VIP Casino Cruise and DH was along for the ride. We are in our mid-60's and live in Florida.We usually book suites on our cruises, but nothing compares to the amenities of the Neptune Suites on HAL. The service was spectacular except for our waiter in the Main Dining Room on the first night (the only night we ate there). He was a bit surly and not at all friendly or welcoming as expected on the cruise's first night. DH and I the majority of our meals in our suite, including room service breakfast every day (everything hot) and lunch for me (DH ate lunch in the Lido buffet), and then our concierges in the Neptune Lounge ordered our dinners every night from the menus we received every afternoon. After 33 cruises, DH and I aren't into small talk with other passengers anymore and prefer tables for two or eating in our suite. I did not like the Tamarind at all, but then I should have known better as I dislike Asian food. DH loves it, so I obliged him by making the reservation. We didn't eat at the Pinnacle Grill this trip.

I celebrated my birthday on the second day and received a huge floral arrangement from our two Neptune Lounge concierges - what a lovely surprise. Also received a birthday card from the ship's Captain. When one of the casino hosts found out it was my birthday, she brought me a gift bag with a birthday card, deck of cards, and a Club 21 cap. Very thoughtful.

Neptune Suite was awesome as usual. Great size, comfy king bed, and I always love the separate vanity area and dressing room. Huge verandah with comfy furniture. We ate most of our meals in our suite and the table and chairs in the suite worked just fine and we had plenty of room. Read more
