FOOD Don't be scared by all the negative comments on here about the food and service. Our experience was quite positive with both. Not perfect, of course, but most food we had was yummy and servers were very pleasant and accommodating. We tried all the “included” venues morning noon and night, but usually ate in Main Dining Room My Time evenings. Do make My Time reservations ahead – we got a note saying the early times were all filled up by 2nd or 3rd day & we basically had to eat after 9 pm. Line waits were not bad. Only food we would have to agree is somewhat bland, and sometimes hot food was cold, was in Windjammer and yes, the eggs there are poor. But Lobster Therm-adore at Windjammer's Seafood Extravaganza nite was superb, better than the lobster I had at MDR. If you like roast turkey, they offer it the last night in MDR and it's usually tender and juicy! My husband said the MDR's prime rib was the best he ever ate.
Try the different venues for all 3 meals. They serve included breakfast in Park Cafe, Wipeout (freshly made to order fried eggs and omelets are great here!), Solarium, Johnny Rockets. Check out your options for lunch too. Sometimes new cruisers don't know that most days breakfast and lunch are served in the MDR where you can order off the menu and be served just like at dinner but it will be slower than other venues. Like salad? Noon in the MDR they will make a huge salad for you to your specifics while you watch w/ lots of protein offered.
SODA PACKAGE Best if you buy it the first day. They put a sticker on your SeaPass so you can get regular or diet Sprite or Coke at any bar, or any show where they have bar service. You can also use it at any of the restaurant venues. Use the special cup at the soda machines and you can choose from over 100 combinations of flavors including many sugar free, noncaffeine and non-carbonated. They could have had more machines. But you do need to drink a lot of soda to make it worth it!
We upgraded from a regular interior cabin for $50 when Royal called us a couple weeks before. We had a large window facing right out the front of the ship -- huge but very slanted like a car windshield. Was interesting but best part was it gave us bunches of extra storage for empty suitcases, shoes and the like in that slanted window area -- loved that. A full size sofa too not loveseat type.
