Sail Date: Jun 2006

We took the cruise "Land of the Midnight Sun" in June 2006 and were very pleased with the trip. The ship was built in the early 1970s but is well maintained and spotlessly clean. During cruising days there were a wide variety of lectures, art class, bridge class and even the opportunity to join a choir under a professional conductor which performed a concert on the final day as well as leading the singing during the Church Service on the Sunday.

The entertainment was very varied and excellent with a five-piece band, a classical concert trio, lounge pianist and a Theatre Company who produced a high class "Showtime" performing songs and dances from well known West End shows and films. Very good dancers and singers (no miming or taped music).

The food was very good with a varied menu. The drinks were at or below British pub prices with good quality and choice. The crew were excellent, very polite, eager to please and seemingly always happy. Fellow passengers were mostly British in the 50+ age group and very amenable. Excursions were well organized and interesting but of course Norway is very expensive.
