This was our first cruise with Princess and it was during Christmas week. Took airport shuttle over to the cruise terminal (a 10-minute drive). The ship it absolutely beautiful -- and huge! So many places to go with friends or to sit quietly. Our state room had a balcony located and was located mid-ship, on deck 14 (one of the highest decks). The cabin was extremely clean, with lots of closet space for all the extra clothes we brought. I enjoyed the fine linens and duvet comforter. My pre-teenager had a blast every evening during the teen activities, although before the trip she swore she would have nothing to do with those organized groups. The main dining room (Coral) was lovely, service was quite good, and food was fair. We liked the option of open dining times, not specific seatings as the majority of cruises offer. Often, we chose instead, to dine on the Lido deck for the buffet, which offered a great variety of food choice and was very good. Evening entertainment was very enjoyable. The ship is so huge that you can wander from lounge to lounge and always find something going on. Be sure to take advantage of room service each morning, nothing beats sipping hot coffee on your own balcony overlooking the blue ocean. The huge outdoor movie screen on the pool deck was really neat to watch movies under the star-lit sky. The ports we visited were St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Princess Cay on the island of Eleuthra. The day we were in St. Thomas, so were six other cruise ships, so at least 12,000-15,000 passengers filled the crowded little streets. It is best to hire a taxi for $20 each and take a nice two hour drive around the island to see the views and then shop till you drop. I actually ended up liking St. Maarten better this trip. I saw better jewelry merchandise featured in their shops. Also took a two-hour taxi tour to the French side. The Princess Cay, private beach, turned out to be enjoyable as our final stop. The best part was taking the tenders from the ship to and from the beach. The water is beautiful but watch out for coral like stones on the beach. Myself and others scraped their feet while walking in the sand. This was a great cruise and I highly recommend it. Staff and accommodations were better than Royal Caribbean and Carnival and no one on our voyage picked up the Norwalk intestinal virus thanks to lots of hand sanitizers on the ship. Happy sailing to you! Suzanne, Houston
