For starters, Uniworld neglected to inform us that there would be a pickup at our hotel due to high water at the embarkation point. The physical condition of the ship is very nice. Clean, modern, decor a bit overdone but still very nice. Unfortunately, a day or so into the cruise passengers began coming down with a respiratory ailment that spread very quickly with the result that when walking down the hall all you could hear were people coughing. There was never any recognition of this condition by the ship's management nor any accommodation made for those too ill to come down to the dining room. While service in the dining room and lounges was good, the food quality did not meet expectations. If Uniworld aspires to be the "Seabourn" of river cruising it needs to step up its game.
