As many people have contributed very detailed reviews, which are very helpful with planning for this trip, I have decided to review it from a UK point of view and give personal observations.

First this trip requires stamina, particularly getting there. The return flight required a detour to Guayaquil where you have to disembark which adds about 3 hours to the journey.

You have to start and finish in Quito to connect with International flights and this can cause problems with altitude: heed the advice and take plenty of water. Try not to drink alcohol and pace yourself. Read more
