Have done many river cruises in the past, but this one is something special. (8) ladies traveled on this itinerary. We did the land portion prior to the cruise which included Halong Bay, as many of the competitors did not include Halong, which should not be missed. Our tour director Tony did a fabulous job. All the local guides were excellent and shared many stories of their families experiences during the war. Cambodia was probably a high light because the people are so friendly and we visited rural villages and saw the way the people lived. The boat villages along the Mekong were very interesting too. You don't see this kind of stuff on a European cruise.
The boat was fabulous, we were on its 4th sailing. The food was excellent, the staff very accommodating. The entertainment on the ship was good, and even the piano player played our tunes and we sang along. What a sport, because we are terrible singers. And the ladies in the spa are wonderful too, we did it all. In Cambodia we visited a local school in the village, we were asked to bring school supplies , some did some didn't. I was a little unsure of this visit, but it did turn out to be one of the highlights of our trip. So don't skip it, it is a very rewarding experience.
