This was our first River Cruise (we've been on 4 regular Princess Cruises). Wonderful Cruise and we especially loved the food and the waiters. Good News was that we met some River Cruisers (on a Viking cruise) who had their cruises end because of low water levels (we never had that happen). At one point, all passengers were put on a coach and we met up with the ship about an hour later and joined the ship again (sorry can't remember where that was) but we feel lucky we didn't have to get off the ship to switch with another ship.

We enjoyed all the cities we visited and the excursions. I woke up early practically every morning before other passengers and got coffee and went up to the "Sun Deck" and loved being up there with only a couple of other passengers and just watching and enjoying the views. One day we signed up for a special Barbecue Lunch on the Sun Deck -- it was terrific and we loved the typical American barbecue!

Our cabin was on the Royal Deck and close to the center of the ship, which was very convenient to the Restaurant and Lounge plus getting on and off the ship (I think that was a great idea for us to book that cabin). Loved our cabin with the Panorama window. The onboard entertainment was different but we went to see all of them -- we saw and did everything we could on the ship. All the employees were very helpful and our cabin steward couldn't have been more accommodating for us. Would go again on Avalon for another river cruise -- we're trying to decide now where to go.
