Went on 15 day cruise Amsterdam to Budapest. Ship, crew, food, cabin all excellent. You tend to travel overnight, mooring up during the day, often for just a few hours for quick tour either on foot or by coach. We would have preferred longer time to wander but of course it would mean less stops.When you moor up you are often stacked up against other boats and if you are unlucky there is no view from your room at all. Also since you often travel overnight you often miss the view. Having said that Avalon do try to pass through the best scenery during the day.

Entertainment was excellent with speciality acts joining at a lock and leaving at a later lock.

We liked mostly wandering on shore but sometimes had to coach to a city. Read more
