We both turned 65 in 2015 but it was very stressful for us both, we had to cancel a China cruise due to ill health and as an ending to the year we lost our caravan of 36 years in storm Frank. We were reluctant to fly post illness, as we really did not know how it would go. We threw caution to the wind and booked a Rhine cruise with nothing tagged on either end, just to see if we would manage the travelling and getting there and back. We had been on 3 ocean cruises, one small, one big, then another small. This was our first river cruise, we were met at airport and taken to boat. Our stateroom was sufficient for our needs and clean throughout cruise. The staff all over were excellent with nothing too hard or difficult to accomplish and they looked after our every need. The ship was clean, quiet, well equipped and comfortable. The dining was superb with a choice of menu three times a day, fit for a King. We met people of our own age and set up a lasting friendship with some of them, we still correspond with them today. We met the previous night before diner to go through the following days itinerary and were shown some of the places of interest we were visiting tomorrow. There was an excursion every morning and every afternoon, it is your choice which ones you go on, as we had not been to all the places we tended to go on the morning tours which were part of the package where the afternoon excursions included a small charge. entertainment was available every night and most acts joined the ship at port, it was various artists and well attended by all. It was thourghly enjoyed by both of us and we will definitely do it again.
We both thought the cabin suited our needs, we were very comfortable the staff were very seldom seen and our cabin was cleaned and tidied every day, without us noticing. There was a mini fridge in the cabin, hair drier, and all the toiletries needed. Plenty storage space for all our belongings.
