Small ship, American waters, American crew, American flagship. These were my hopes when I first researched ACL. They promised much but I thought they were a little pricey. I signed anyway, but was late in doing so, and cabins were limited. I wanted a single with veranda but had to settle for a double on Deck 1. When I arrived however, I was placed in a double on Deck 2. I am a bit handicapped and was placed rather close to the elevator. From the moment I arrived until my departure eight days later, ACL exceeded my expectations. The crew, from captain on down, was unfailingly polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. All directors (and other "bosses") were in constant attendance and always approachable. My one complaint was that it was recommended that I bring long sleeved shirts for daily wear. Most passengers knew better and I saw more golf shirts than button-down sport shirts. I took two sports jackets, wore one on Thursday for drinks and dinner with the captain, and almost felt overdressed. The preceding is a very minor gripe. All in lol I really enjoyed the cruise, the crew, and the other passengers. And, lest I forget, the food, each and every meal, was outstanding. The choices were extensive, and every dish was just about perfect. The tours were fun, and I truly enjoyed the entertainment. I have signed up for my second cruise, in June. By the way, I am 80 and I really like the idea of the cruises outlined by ACL.
It was large enough for my needs, and had plenty of space for storage. It was always immaculate.
